Materials:
- Construction paper in fall colors (red, orange, yellow, brown)
- Scissors
- Glue
- String or yarn
Instructions:
-
Cut out leaves: Cut out leaf shapes from the construction paper. You can use a template or freehand it. Make a variety of leaf shapes and sizes for a more interesting garland.
-
Fold leaves in half: Fold each leaf in half lengthwise. This will create a crease down the center.
-
Glue leaves together: Apply a thin line of glue to the inside of one folded leaf. Press the other folded leaf on top, aligning the edges. Repeat this process for all the leaves.
-
Thread leaves onto string: Cut a length of string or yarn and thread it through the crease of each leaf. Space the leaves evenly along the string.
-
Tie ends: Tie the ends of the string together to create a loop. You can also add a tassel or ribbon to the ends for decoration.
Tips:
- Use different shades of fall colors to create a more vibrant garland.
- Add glitter or sequins to the leaves for a touch of sparkle.
- Cut out leaf shapes from patterned paper for a unique look.
- Make the garland longer or shorter by adding or removing leaves.
- Hang the garland indoors or outdoors to add a festive touch to your fall decor.
Variations:
- Leaf cluster garland: Glue three or four leaves together to create a cluster. Thread the clusters onto the string instead of individual leaves.
- Layered leaf garland: Cut out leaves from different colors and layer them on top of each other. Glue the leaves together and thread them onto the string.
- 3D leaf garland: Cut out two identical leaf shapes and glue them together around the edges, leaving a small opening at the bottom. Stuff the leaf with cotton or tissue paper and close the opening. Thread the leaves onto the string.
